Yes! I think it’s been through a few versions – I like all the ones I’ve seen, and couldn’t choose between them, personally.

Has anyone noticed how book cover design has changed since The Essex Serpent? I was in a large well-known bookshop the other day, and their wall display of face-on new books looked like a patchwork tapestry of intricate designs.

What a great way to reflect on your own religious upbringing through this book. You transported me back to both to your own childhood and as Perry suggests, the flavour of a Victorian life. The quotes you have chosen caught the sense of dread and indeed death that pervade the story.
