The Huguenots of Spitalfields, The Huguenot Society of Great Britain and Ireland, The French Hospital in London, The French Protestant Church of London and The Huguenot Museum in Rochester have come out this Spring with all guns blazing, each announcing a programme of events to knock your socks off.
Venues include the Garrick Club, the Goldsmiths’ Centre, the Journeymen Weavers’ Houses in Spitalfields, St Paul’s Cathedral and countless others.
15 September has been designated Huguenot Day, and October 2018 Huguenot Month – but many events are happening now, right up until Christmas.
I’ve attended events organised by The Huguenots of Spitalfields in previous years, and they’ve never once disappointed.
The groups who gather for them are exceptionally friendly, and more than willing to share their family history expertise. The guided walks are led by Blue Badge Tourist Guides and – for me – are always a highlight.
However much you already know, you’ll always learn more; and if you’re just starting out with your Huguenot research, all the right doors will be opened for you.
