I agree with Lyn..your photos are a delight. I had no idea of the design of the Huguenot cross.
The inscription is a very intimate reminder taking one straight to the life and times- to watch your foot or maybe ‘watch your step’- perhaps a more metaphorical reminder to behave appropriately and approach with respect, care and attention in order to hear the message.
